The Community Calendar exists to provide residents with accurate, timely, and neutral information about events and notices occurring in Calhoun County.
These guidelines ensure the calendar remains clear, fair, and useful to the public.

Who May Submit Events
Events may be submitted by:
- Local organizations and nonprofits
- Schools and educational groups
- Government bodies, boards, and committees
- Churches and faith-based organizations
- Volunteer and civic groups
- Local businesses (public events only)
Individuals may submit events only if the event is open to the public and meets all guidelines below.
Eligible Events
An event must meet all of the following criteria:
- Takes place in Calhoun County, West Virginia
- Has a clearly defined date, time, and location
- Events that are not fully open to the public must clearly state any attendance limits or restrictions in the event description.
- Provides factual, non-misleading information
- Has a legitimate community, civic, educational, or public interest purpose
Ineligible Events
The following will not be published:
- Personal fundraisers (non-organizational)
- Private invitation-only events without public relevance
- Commercial promotions or sales events without a community purpose
- Duplicate or recurring submissions without changes
- Events containing inflammatory, misleading, or inappropriate content
Event Review & Approval
- All submissions are reviewed before publishing
- Approval is based solely on compliance with these guidelines
- Editing may occur for clarity, formatting, or accuracy
- Submission does not guarantee publication
- Decisions are final to maintain consistency and fairness
Event Visibility
- Events are displayed based on date and relevance
- Older events are automatically removed after they occur
- The calendar does not prioritize events based on organization, size, or influence
Changes & Corrections
- Submitters are responsible for accuracy
- Corrections should be requested as soon as possible
- The calendar administrator may update or remove events if details change or errors are identified

Standardize rejection reasons
Common reasons an event is declined
- Missing date/time/location
- Unclear public access / restrictions not stated
- Misleading or advocacy-only content without event details

Inclusion of an event does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or approval.
